Day 1 - Alarm clock goes Bzzzt
We're back. The title of this post inspires an existential dread in many - which is a key theme in our horror-infused entry this year. I don't want to say too much about the game at the moment, but I'll go over what I achieved during day 1:
What I did:
• Learnt a lot about Godot 4.0 and the new features in GDScript! I can't give very detailed impressions on using the new version yet but in short: cool - I like it. It's good.
• Sketched out most of the significant GUI requirements and began developing the code needed for them to work. Used Godot's new Tweens a fair bit. They seem very powerful!
• Made a pretty comprehensive NPC sprite generator. It assembles sprites from lots of different visual components and groups them together with the new CanvasGroup. I seem go for this method of creating NPCs every year.
• Drew some graphics! Some are more placeholderish than others....
Plan for the next 24h:
• Continue working on the GUI - there is much more to be done.
• Work on some more graphics. Need to create many new ones, and polish up some of the placeholders.
• Implement some mechanics - in particular, the very significant stamina system we're using this year.
Arrrrrrrrgh - so much to do! Until tomorrow!
PS: I wasn't going to send any screenshots, but I can't resist. Have one.
Based on a tile from GuttyKreum's The Japan Collection: Office Interior Game Assets. Their assets are much to beautiful to be used in this project without first making them a bit more horrible!
