Day 1 - Hello Cave!

02/03/2020

I'm pretty pleased with the progress made during Day 1. Coding has been done, and pixels have been placed. The self-imposed 6am start (which was accidentally a 1am start) was quite gruelling, but creativity flows better under pressure. Or so I've been told. We are using Godot for this project, which I've messed about with it a bit over the last few months as an excuse to learn some 3D jargon, but I haven't actually developed anything in it before. So far it's pretty much been a joy!

Things wot I did:

• installed emacs.
• spent too much time setting up emacs.
• wrote some boilerplate code to handle input, and adding entities to the map.
• generated, edited, and assembled a bunch of tiles.
• struggled with normal mapping and 2D lighting. I prevailed?
• several powernaps. Most important weapon in my arsenal.

Things wot I hope to do tomorrow:

• uhhhh.
• gameplay! Gameplay! Implement some stat lines and see if I can get numbers to change.
• more graphics! More graphics!
• produce some sick beats.
• powernap.
